ABOUT ETHIOPIA GUJI HAMBELLA WAMENA NATURAL Coffee
Hambela Wamena is a high-altitude district within Ethiopia's Guji Zone, grown in the village of Deri, Kebele Deri Kidame, at elevations between 1,900 and 2,000 metres above sea level. The cool mountain air slows cherry maturation, building extraordinary sweetness and complexity into every bean.
This coffee is grown from indigenous Heirloom varieties, farmed by smallholder families on fertile highland soil, organic by tradition.
Every cherry is carefully hand-sorted before processing, selecting only perfectly ripe fruit. Healthy cherries are then identified through a flotation tank, ensuring only the densest, highest-quality beans move forward. The selected cherries are then laid in 5cm layers on raised African drying beds, turned 5 to 6 times daily for even sun exposure, and slowly Natural sun-dried for 15 to 21 days until reaching an optimal moisture level of 11 to 12%. The result is a clean, juicy, and fruit-forward cup that is unmistakably Hambella.
